I reburned the CDs using cdrecord with the -pad option. The mediacheck
now passes with disks 1 and 2, but still fails with disk 3. I'm not
absolutely sure that it's not really a bad CD, though I checked all three
disks at work with the dd trick before bringing them home. I burned them
on a Sun Solaris machine with Cdrecord 1.9.
