Well if GL based screen-savers are crashing X, then the GL libraries (or
X, or the people's graphics cards) is/are broken.  If it's broken enough
that using it will crash the machine, then I would think it
(OpenGL) shouldn't be in the default redhat install at all.

On the other hand, I use all sorts of 3d stuff all the time in debian and
redhat with no issues (Radeon 7000 VE).
