Problem with Loki games on Severn

Well, I guess it's not a glibc issue.  I tried a simpler thing: I booted
an older kernel.  I still had a couple kernels from RH 9 installed,
specifically: kernel-2.4.20-18.9 and kernel-2.4.20-19.9.

When booting either of these, heroes3 works fine.  It's only when I boot
Severn's kernel (kernel-2.4.21-20.1.2024.2.1.nptl) that the crash occurs.

So I guess "something" changed in the kernel which somehow displeases
heroes3...

I'd be happy to try any patch... ;-)
