Ok. heroes3 works just fine with vanilla 2.4.22.
Just for the record, here is what I did:
 - grab 2.4.22 from local kernel.org mirror
 - copy Severn's kernel config as .config
   (cp /usr/src/linux-2.4.21-20.1.2024.2.1.nptl/configs/kernel-2.4.21-athlon.config .config)
 - make oldconfig
 - make dep; make bzImage; make modules
 - install the stuff, update lilo, and reboot
 - recompile and install nVidia's kernel module

FWIW, kohan still bombs, so it must be suffering from something else. Given
that it is also a static executable, it could be due to some other kernel
change, or some nVidia peculiarities. I have another similar machine here,
with vanilla RH 9, and kohan works there...

Well, it seems they are not completely harmless... 8)
