Any CRT or DFP which supports DDC probing, will be autodetected
automatically as long as the video driver supplied for your video
card supports DDC probing on that type of display. If the
display does not support DDC, or if the driver does not support
DDC on that type of display, then autodetection will not work and
the monitor needs to be selected from a list produced by the
monitor database.
If anyone has a monitor which does not autodetect on a particular
video card, or through a KVM switch or some other peculiarity,
they can get their monitor added to our MonitorDB by going to
the manufacturer's website and downloading the vendor's Microsoft
Windows "driver" file, or .INF file for their monitor. Once
someone has submitted the .INF file, we can automate extracting
the required information and adding it to our database.
Once it's added to the database, manual monitor selection is
possible in the config tools. Note that the DDC probe
autodetection mechanism does not require the monitor to be listed
in the database. The database is only needed for displays that
are not autodetected for any reason.
Hope this helps.
