kernel freeze on ide1 for kernel-2.4.22

bootup sequence was freezing during the INIT sequence.
The hard drive light staying on.
The /usr directory was mounted on /dev/hdc2.

My last functionning kernel whitout this freeze is
kernel-2.4.18-18.8.0.i586.rpm

With kernel-2.4.22-1.2049.nptl.i586.rpm, same freezing.
Moving physically the hard drive to /dev/hdb
Now, the kernel succed to boot, and every thing looks fine with ide0.

Install two hard disks on ide1.
Copying directory between device succeed until it will freeze
with the hard drive light on.
