YUM only installs 1 of 413 updates

what ver of yum was this? What ver of rpm? I've never seen this before
but I'm thinking this has something to do with access to the rpmdb.

not as a general rule, use the yum debug levels - but I don't see what
could cause this and yum debug levels can't tell you, entirely, what rpm
is doing.
