More details would help us debug your problem

Zip crash? Is that a Zip drive at work, or were you using the 'zip'
command? X crashed - what kind of chipset & video card do you have?
Screensaver crashing (hanging X?) is a known problem with some intel
boards with integrated video, iirc. What kind of root tools aren't
working for you? Is SELinux turned on (i.e. enforcing)?
