CDROM Boot Image insanity

Yes.

Yes.

The machine has a Gigabyte GA-8SQ800Ultra motherboard, BIOS 
version F8a (latest), SiS 655 chipset, 2.4GHz P4 and LG 
GCC-4120B CD-RW/DVD combo drive if that info helps in any way.
