Install kernel hangs

I'm running test 3 now updated from a test 2
install.  I had problems booting test 2 at first
with the default kernel but worked out it was a
kudzu issue.  Since that was fixed, this system
is working fine running the smp-327 kernel.  I
would like to do a fresh install of test 3 as I
have some niggling issues with usb and would like
to see if they might come good with a fresh
install of test 3, but I'm up the creek :(
