It should be good, but it ends up being a problem.  glibc, for example
is NOT GPL, it is LGPL specifically because of the problems of linking
to non-GPL-compatible code.  If glibc were GPL, then proprietary apps,
and even other open source stuff that wasn't compatible with GPL,
wouldn't be able to use the C library.  System platform libraries need
to be LGPL or another license that is compatible with a wide range of
licenses that may need to link directly with them.
