upgrade issues: FC1 -> FC2, and kernel-related issues

  if there's a pointer to a URL that covers this, that would be just fine.
just how is one going to upgrade from FC1 to FC2 and get the 2.6
kernel given the incompatibilities in some of the underlying files from
2.4?

  long, long ago, i already went through most of the exercise of moving
up to the 2.5/2.6 kernels, which involved having to make changes in
/etc/rc.sysinit for renamed USB modules and other stuff. and there
was the issue involving LVM1 -> LVM2, which i decided to avoid for
the time being. (at the moment, i'm running FC1 with a 2.4.22 kernel
and LVM1.)

  so, what happens if someone already has a system with LVM1 volume
manager? in switching to the 2.6 kernel, is an upgrade even possible?
what if one wants to have the option of both 2.4 and 2.6 kernels at
boot time, given some of the incompatibilities?

  thoughts?
