GNOME changing Desktop Wallpaper

Haven't tried FC2 yet, so this is FC1 centric. The program for
changing backgrounds is /usr/bin/gnome-background-properties, and it
belongs to the package control-center. Do you have those on your
system?

Can you set the background from the command line or a script? See
http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=7343 for more info on how
to do so.
