Out of curiosity, are you running in runlevel 5 with GDM, KDM, or XDM?

I am running primarily in runlevel 3, and use startx when necessary
(which is starting xfce4 by exec of 'startxfce4' though ssh-agent).
I am also using only agpgart support now, although in the past I have
had excellent success using nVIDIA's agp driver instead.
