Have also notices rpm -e operations on kernel/kernel-source can take a
LONG time.  Not a very apparent/strong correlation to the CPU/disk
setup, single processor or SMP, although disk speed in particular is
obviously a factor for big packages like kernel-source.  The slow
response happens even when the neither the source directory nor /boot
has been touched.
