Fonts look odd in Mozilla/Firefox

I always thought the fonts looked odd in FC3T3 but when I put it side by 
side with a FC2 system I saw the problem was that the line spacing is 
much greater in FC3.  In particular there seems to be several pixels of 
excess white space above each character causing the spacing problem.

This is especially annoying on my laptop with a WXGA 1280x800 display.
