well, I went ahead and did it anyway, the driver works fine, but I have
to boot to runlevel 3 then startx manually.

I would prefer to have my gdm back with my nice gnome login, but if I
change my runlevel back to 5 then I get no joy, lot's of strange errors.

so I can't put runlevel 5 back in inittab...any ideas what I could do to
get my gdm back with the new drivers? (they are nice btw, all my gl
stuff is very fast now.)

thanks in advance.
