vanilla kernel build

Hi.  I would like to build a vanilla kernel for Fedora Core 3.  I built
(a lot) of vanilla kernels for Fedora Core 2, but when I try to build
them for '3 I usually wind up getting boot problems (like "hda interrupt
lost" or "cannot start first console").  What are the extra patches that
need to be applied to a stock (kernel.org) kernel to be workable under
fedora core 3?
