Still having scanner problems with permissions

Hi,

I'm using rawhide and have had this problem for a while and it's never
really been fixed from what I can see.

First off, the scanner is attached to a SCSI card. It is not always auto
detected during power up due to the scanner having a cut out after a
certain period of time. When it is detected, the aic7xxx module is
loaded.

However, to get it to work, the sg module needs to be loaded, aic7xxx
removed and then reloaded. Should this not be automatically done during
boot up?

Once the sg module is loaded, the scanner is given a device name
of /dev/sg0. This is owned by root.root. No one else has access to it
unless they manually change the permission for the scanner - shouldn't
this be automatically changed to whichever person requests it?

TTFN
