There are some legacy locations hidden around the filesystem. If the
StarOffice installer is putting them in usr/share/applications, and the
"Categories=" line has the right info, then the menu items should just
show up. In this case a line like

Categories=Application;Office;

in each *.desktop file should be sufficient to get it in the menu.
