yum update fails, looking for "libpq.so.3"

I did something like this:
yum -y --exclude='postgresql*' --exclude='libdbi*' --exclude='*php*'
--exclude='dovecot' update
which passed the transaction check and started running the
transaction, but then yum tracebacked:
