Thanks for the response...  Now this is probably going off topic so if you 
want me to take it off list I will:

What happens when an upstream maintainer isn't keeping up?  Does the kernel 
community take some sort of vote, or does Linus get involved, or what? 
Again, this is just out of my personal curiosity...
