500kbytes/sec ACPI messages to syslog

starting over the weekend or early this week, it seems some FC4 update 
on my laptop seems to be generating constant stream of ACPI error 
messages to syslog. gkrellm is showing background activity of around 
500kbytes/sec.

it only happens with KDE and not with GNOME. I've looked at numerous KDE 
options but haven't been able to find anything that would put a halt to it.

It is only happening on laptop ... same FC4 on desk machine isn't 
resulting in the problem.
