Ok, had time to do this, when I added the alias mkinitrd worked fine
and added the mod's

 initrd-2.6.12-1.1426_FC5smp.test]# ls lib/
aic7xxx.ko    dm-snapshot.ko  jbd.ko       scsi_transport_spi.ko
dm-mirror.ko  dm-zero.ko      raid0.ko     sd_mod.ko
dm-mod.ko     ext3.ko         scsi_mod.ko

So I'm wondering, when/if/did the modprobe.conf removed that entry or
what's going on with it?
