Wow, how about you provide some detail session logs? Your problem
description like

or

is much too vague. If Firefox and ping see a working network -- and
other networking tools like wget or curl probably, too -- yum has
access to the same network. Yum doesn't know/care at all what driver
provides the network connectivity.
