I just tried changing my hostname, and yum seems to work fine, apart
from taking a while to "read in package metadata".

One thing to make sure of with yum:  Pick a mirror and specify that in
the yum .repo file, don't just use "mirrorlist=".  I haven't mirrorlist
to work very reliably.
