Just out of curiousity, have you tried them on the Abit mobo in
question but with a different *power supply*?  I had a rash of drive
errors a while back (I have 6 hard drives + dvd-r in the system), and
it turned out the power supply was dying; the drives surprisngly
turned out to be the most sensitive components in the system to
voltage fluctuations.
