hald dying?

Running rawhide (hal-0.5.4.cvs20051111-1):

On severals boot ups, I've noticed that hald has died, e.g.:
[tbl at tlondon ~]$ gnome-power-manager --verbose --no-daemon
GNOME Power Manager 0.2.8 - Power Manager for the GNOME desktop

running 'service haldaemon stop', killing off orphans, and restarting
seems to fix.

Nothing obvious in /var/log/messages or in /var/log/audit/audit.log

Anyone else seeing this?
