Nope - I don't see where you are coming from.
By using the browser update feature, you are testing a feature that is
not supported by Fedora (and I suspect will be patched out for FC5).
The supported method for updating the browser is through package
repository.
By running the generic browser, you are testing a build of firefox that
Fedora will never ship with. It is compiled differently and packaged
differently.
