2.6.14-1.1696_FC5 installs but kernel crashes on boot

If I boot in rescue mode and chroot into /mnt/sysimage should I be able

If I can get it booting at all I could install source and rebuild with 
CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA=N to check if that really is the cause ...
