OK don't know where the fstab came from in /dev/fd0 and /dev/floppy but 
those directories do exist on my system. Must be some symbolic links in 
there that are confusing me and Konqueror.  Does hal not handle the cdrom 
mount because that is still in /etc/fstab with an entry for /media/cdrom.
