Bottom line: successful install. Main issue: device probing produces a hang after installing AHCI driver. Booting with 'noprobe' bypasses this. I completed installation by manually selecting the Broadcom tg3 network driver and the Intel-sata disk driver. (The x41 has an Intel 82801FBM Ulta ATA controller.) -- Tom London
