Are you using FC4?  I ask because I just updated mplayer and had no
problems with either FC5 or rawhide.  rpm shows directfb-0.9.24-5.fc5 is
installed (I'm not using xine). Directfb is available in the fedora
extras repository, so make sure you have it enabled.

I know that ImageMagick is in extras too so maybe that's your only problem.
