Problems with Dell 2001FP monitor

This consistently happened to me with fc5t2 fc5t3 and fc5, with my viewsonic 
vg191 1280x1024. The problem is the DVI connection. The graphical installation 
works perfectly if I connect it by the vga connector.

The dvi connector causes several problems also after the installation, which can 
be solved by adding the line

         Option      "MergedFB" "false"

in the Device section of your xorg.conf. I filled a couple of bug reports on it:
