The FreeType engine is a free and portable font rendering
engine, developed to provide advanced font support for a variety of

individual glyphs. FreeType is not a font server or a complete
text-rendering library.

Update Information:

This updates fixes a memory allocation issue that could make
the application crash with certain fonts.  Moreover, this
makes the FreeType demos that require an X11 connection to
work again.
