Thanks for your suggestions.
Could someone suggest a better list?
I would like to be testing FC6, but I feel I am stuck in the past.
Can't seem to get past this issue and I don't think it is fixed in FC6
either.
I have submitted bug reports, what else should I do?

Smells like for some reasons 'sata_via' module is either missing
from your mkinitrd or not loaded by 'init' script there.
You can unpack your initrd and examine details with

   zcat /path/to/your/initrd | cpio -imd

and there are options to mkinitrd like '--preload'.

The above is a guess but the fact that you can boot from
installation media clearly shows that there is no problem between
kernel and your hardware. Sure, there is a bug somewhere.

But this is truly a wrong list to discuss FC5 problems and it
is quite possible that you can find better help on the right one.
