now, i do have the "snd_hda_intel" module currently loaded -- you're
saying i need to update the kernel source tree from the alsa mercurial
repo and rebuild a *newer* one?  just making sure i know what the goal
is here.  (and, yes, i can see that i would have to load that module
with the "model=3kstack" parameter as well -- i'm assuming i can do
that manually first as a test, no?)
