As a matter of fact it is even much older than the report you
reference here; simply defaults changed.  A workaround mentioned
there, i.e. turning off "Assistive Technologies", still works
to my knowledge and is the only current reliable cure.

I know of at least one other problem triggered by at-spi stuff.
