Sound problems (user not root)

I have the same problem with kernel-2.6.23.8-63.fc8

kmix does not show any mixer and so on.
This bug appeared before during the test stage of Fedora 8 and can be found
in pulseaudio component.
I am not sure what is the culprit... :-(
