Tested with ipw2200 on a Dell D610 - works fine.
Tested with rt73usb from in-kernel rt2x00 module - works fine.
Tested with iwl3945 in-kernel in a Samsung Q35 - only works if -u flag 
is removed from /etc/sysconfig/wpa_supplicant.  If the -u flag is 
left in then wpa_supplicant does not load at boot.

However removing -u flag gives a working system with iwl3945.
