I put in my information there, but I'm becoming concerned from the
lack of feedback and "me too" messages about this Dell laptop. Seems
like there ought to me more than 2 users on earth with Dells that have
this funny problem.

Would you suppose it tracks back to a defect in the hardware itself?
We have had a whole crop of Dell Desktops go bad with bogus
motherboards and I felt a little sour about it because the company did
not recall them, but rather waited for each individual one to go
wrong. (bad capacitors in GX270, if you need details). If somebody
out there thinks it is the hardware, not the Linux kernel, please let
me know while I'm still in the warranty!
