hard hang at boot -- i386 F7T4 + latest rawhide

I have a system running 64bit here where I noticed
this issue. I also noticed the hang was occurring
exactly at 'Starting system logger', so i booted into
a FC-6 on the same machine and move aside
/var/log/messages on the rawhide partition. That cured
the hang for me.
