How to for upgrading from F7 to F8 via yum?

I concur with Jesse.  I only reboot my boxes after a glibc upgrade or a
release upgrade, or a kernel security fix.  I can think of no reason to
reboot before upgrading releases, unless it's for one of the above
reasons, generally.
