mysql-5.0.45-1.fc7.i386.rpm binary log not working

It seems in mysql-5.0.45-1.fc7.i386.rpm, the binary log does not working anymore. 

The following log files in /var/lib/mysql never gets updated after been created during install.
p33-bin.index
p33-bin.00001
p33-bin.00002

The mysql binary log works well in mysql-5.0.37-2.fc7 which comes wiwth fc7.
