Just tested particularly with respect to the rt73usb driver.
This works nicely and is stable provided the rt2500usb driver is blacklisted
in
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

iwconfig reports a Bit Rate of 1Mb/s but the achieved rate is much higher
than this.
