PulseAudio info needed

I didn't play with the xfce spin at all.  In KDE, it was stuttery, and
in console and fluxbox, it didn't work at all for me.  

This is low end hardware, which could certainly be a factor, but sound
used to Just Work(TM) in Fedora for me, and now it doesn't.  

So, for me at least, I can't say it's a good implementation.  Judging
from what I'm seeing on the forums since F10, I don't think I'm the only
one with issues.  
 
Conversely, it does seem that those who spend the time getting it to
work (usually with far more sophisticated sound needs than mine) are
liking it.  For me, at least in Gnome, it's working better than it did
previously.   However, it is definitely one of the big issues that we're
seeing on the forums. 

Did you do anything special to get it working in console, or did it just
work for you with no further configuration?

(For what it's worth, in console, I use it with mplayer.)
