Well, I applied all of today's updates and it "works for me".

Are you running this via "startx" from runlevel 3, or are you booting
up directly to level 5?

[I believe there are some changes in the X server/drivers with the new
version of the server, so make sure you have updated all the xorg-x11
and mesa packages....]
