A 'System Monitor' is not what one would expect to be the source for what 
operating system is installed... it just happens to include this tab because it 
was apparently not available elsewhere and got stuffed into that tool.

Do you open the Task Manager as the primary source for info about which OS you 
have installed in the Windows world?  No, you open the System control panel (the 
most centralized source of information regarding the system and hardware that 
exists there).

'About this computer' is sensible.  Looking for your OS version in a system 
monitor is not (it just happens to be there).
