Is it possible to speed up yum.

Now this is important.  I don't really care about download times as that 
all happens in
the background.  My machine is unlikely to suffer if it doesn't get 
upgraded for another
30 minutes or hour and the link is always up.  And think of all those 
poor windows
users waiting months for updates.  :-)  But while my attention is on the 
updates, I am
spending my time until a decision can be made waiting instead of doing 
other things. 
Of course, I could just let it all happen in the background but I like 
to see what is going
to download before saying yes.
