Yes, *manual* session save/restore went away in KDE4 (even though the manual
save option remains in the GUI), but the automatic save/restore has still
always 'just worked' better than in Gnome.

When I need a fresh, minimal desktop, for a quick login with no restored
apps, I just make it a point to use fluxbox or xfce for moment instead.
